Actress/Dancer Jenna Dewan Tatum Visits MoCo Arts

70+ MoCo Arts students gathered in MoCo’s Black Box Theatre on a rainy Monday afternoon for a chance to talk with Hollywood dance and actress, Jenna Dewan Tatum. Dewan is currently the host of the competition dance show World of Dance on NBC. Students participated in a thoughtful Q&A and even got a chance to dance alongside the guest of honor.
After great conversation with the kids Dewan had one last request, she wanted to dance with the kids! Staff quickly cleared away the stage, cued up music and gathered on stage while MoCo Arts dance teacher Cassie Tobey taught Dewan and the group a dance step from a hip hop routine from the recent performance of The Jungle Book. The music blared through the theatre, the energy was high, and everyone began dancing together.
When the music stopped, one student keep going with the routine, prompting Dewan to shout out ‘Wait! I want to see the rest of it!”. So the music was re-cued, and the class that performed that routine in the show took the stage. Everyone was in disbelief that they just performed for their new friend Jenna Dewan Tatum.
